How we test QR code generators
Methodology version 1.0 · Updated August 7, 2026
Every tool on QRBench is scored 0 to 10 on 7 weighted criteria. The weights are public, the checks behind each criterion are public, and every individual score is backed by a dated observation: what we saw, where, and when. When a vendor changes pricing or features, we re-verify and the ranking recomputes from the data.
We favor hands-on verification over marketing pages: where a tool can be tested without an account, we generate real QR codes, download every export format, and decode the output to confirm it scans. Each tool's fiche states how it was verified: public documentation, hands-on free-tier testing, or a full account test.

- Whether limits are stated on the pricing page or discovered after signup
- Price per dynamic QR code at the entry tier, normalized across tools
Trust & transparency

- Whether pricing, limits, and renewal terms are published and unambiguous
- Watermarks, forced redirects, or interstitials injected into generated codes

Corrections
If you spot a factual error (a price, a limit, a feature), email hello@qrbench.com. We verify, correct, and date the correction on the affected page.
See the grid applied: the full ranking, the tool reviews, and the pricing index are all generated from the same verified dataset.
